Hungry puppies looking for some food.
It's hard to believe it has only been 11 days since the puppies arrived. Everyone is doing really well, and several are nearly off the bottles now. We continue to bottle feed every two hours, letting Renee look after the puppies in between. Everyone is gaining weight steadily.
Personality-wise, some of the puppies are starting to show clear tendancies. For example, Green is a very strong boy. He gets what he wants, and will put up a fight to get it. Bottle feeding him if he's not interested isn't pretty ;) thank goodness he's gaining on nearly nothing but Renee's milk. Black also has strong opinions about his needs. Now that he's getting lots of Renee's milk, he'd rather skip the bottle, though with a bit of persistence he sometimes changes his mind. Brown is very easy-going so far, as is Blue. Both are growing well, happy to bottle feed when hungry, and nursing eagerly when with Renee. Orange is a picture of efficiency. Whether on Renee or on the bottle, he gets the job done. He's a hungry boy and makes sure he gets what he needs.
The girls are all a bit smaller. Red has been the fastest gaining, and is generally an easy girl. Yellow is quite active and likes to "explore". She's the first one awake between feedings, searching for the nearest suckable item (usually a litter mate...). Purple is the smallest, and slowest to gain, but she's still coming along well. She nurses very well from the bottle, and is always finding somewhere to nurse on Renee too. I swear her little belly is going to burst one of these days she gets it so full.
Full tummies = nap time.
