Getting to know Black
Arriving in the barn, Black was quite unsure of his new surroundings. He wanted to look around, and was not too sure about coming to a person he didn't know. This contrasts with his friendly demeanor to known and unknown people alike in the yard, but the point of the testing is to see how the puppy reacts under stress.
Social Attraction: Black was hesitant to come to the new person, clearly unsettled with the environment. However he did eventually come and enjoyed her attention once he arrived.
Following: Despite his slow start, Black willingly followed his new person. There is some safety in the presence of a human after all.
Restraint: Black was very submissive, not struggling and actually avoiding eye contact while held down.
Social Dominance: Black enjoyed the attention, and licked the tester's hands a bit. He was happy to relax and enjoy.
Elevation: All the puppies scored the same here, relaxing and not fighting the handler.
Retrieving: Black really could care less about the ball. He'd rather stay with his new friend, or go exploring.
Touch Sensitivity: Not overly sensitive, but not numb either.
Sound Sensitivity: The sudden loud sound caught Black's attention, and he seemed curious about it, but wasn't interested in approaching or investigating it.
Sight Sensitivity: Black found the moving toy very exciting and happily chased it, pouncing and biting at it once it stopped moving.
Stability: While startled when the umbrella opened in his face, Black was interested enough to sniff at it a bit before ignoring it.
Cat in a Box: The cat was quite interesting to Black, a potential new friend. But when the cat clearly didn't want to play Black was happy enough to sit back and eventually go his own way.
What does this mean?
Black is a pretty passive guy. He gets stressed in new situations, but is willing to trust his person to look after him. He will check out new things, but stays calm about it and doesn't seem too worried about the whys about things. He's not easily startled, but needs to gain confidence. Black should be relatively easy to train, as long as things are kept positive and he is given the time to become well socialized with the world around him. He might enjoy something like lure coursing, but is unlikely to be interested in much problem-solving. Overall Black should be a fun pet for someone who is willing to make sure he gets the opportunity to see the world and be confident with himself. He will probably not be the type to burst into a situation, bowling over everyone in the process, instead preferring to get a good look around and keep tabs on his owner as he explores.
